a
- AcquisitionOperational phase of a fire-control or track radar during which the radar system searches a small volume of space in a prearranged pattern.
- Active Component An electrical component capable of amplifying power, such as transistors and diodes.
- Active Filter A filter that utilizes components with amplification capabilities to process signals, like operational amplifiers.
- Active Material The chemically active substances in a battery's electrodes that participate in charge and discharge reactions.
- Active Region The operational state of a transistor where it functions as an amplifier, with the collector acting as a current source.
- Active SatelliteA satellite that amplifies the received signal and retransmits it back to earth.
- ActuatorThe part of a switch that is acted upon to cause the switch to change contact connections; for example, toggle, pushbutton, and rocker.
- Acute Angle An angle that measures less than 90 degrees.
- Admittance The reciprocal of impedance in AC circuits, representing how easily a circuit allows the flow of current.
- Admittance The measure of how easily alternating current flows through a circuit, defined as the reciprocal of impedance
- Admittance (Y) - A measure of how easily alternating current flows through a circuit; it is the reciprocal of impedance
- Air Core Coil A type of coil without a magnetic core, relying solely on the air for its magnetic field.
- Air Gap The space between the poles of a magnet, affecting magnetic flux and field strength.
- Alkaline Battery A battery type that uses an alkaline electrolyte, providing high energy density and a long shelf life.
- Alkaline Cell A type of primary battery that uses an alkaline electrolyte, often providing greater energy density compared to acidic batteries.
